Pangea Group receives DBE Certification

August 22, 2011 - Pangea has received certification as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) from the Missouri Regional Certification Committee through the City of St. Louis – Lambert office. Also, Pangea currently holds a Minority Business Certification (MBE) through the St. Louis Minority Supplier Development Council.

As a minority-owned company, this certification allows Pangea’s services to compete for and perform local government contract work, helping federally-funded contracts meet their DBE goals.

“By obtaining the DBE certification, Pangea is able to expand its role locally in Missouri in providing construction and environmental services” said Michael Zambrana, owner of Pangea. “We are excited by the opportunity this certification gives us to increase our involvement with local government contracts.”

Pangea has been in business for 17 years and has performed over 1200 diverse construction and remediation projects across the continental United States. Government clients include the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Department of Energy, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Bureau of Reclamation, and National Guard. Commercial and Utility clients have included Ameren, BJC Healthcare, Magnesium Elektron North America, Metropolitan Sewer District and Prairie State Generating Company.

Pangea completes Joplin Emergency Response Work

August 19, 2011 - Pangea completed the installation of modular facilities to be used as temporary schools in Joplin, Missouri in just six weeks. This was an emergency response award after the Joplin Missouri school system was hit especially hard by a tornado on May 22, 2011. Six school buildings were destroyed, including Joplin High. Seven other buildings were badly damaged.

Under separate contracts from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, Pangea installed facilities for the Joplin High School and East Middle School. The facilities included a kitchen, band and choir classrooms, science laboratories, bathroom facilities, a gym with weight room and locker room, greenhouse and storm shelters.

Pangea completes two ARRA projects at the Savannah River Site

August 10, 2011 - Pangea has completed two American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) projects at the Department of Energy's Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC.

Pangea completed the construction of the Operational Stormwater Runoff Covers for the E-Area Slit Trenches No. 1 thru 4 and No. 5. The work involved installing 839,000 sq. ft. of geotextile and geomembrane liner over back fill to promote positive drainage to reduce infiltration into the trenches. A new storm sewer system and stormwater culverts were constructed, as well as the concrete lined ditches along the perimeter and rip rap aprons.

Pangea also completed a design/build contract from Savannah River Nuclear Solutions which required the design and removal of contaminated sediments at the D-006 Outfall, design and removal of contaminated soils at the 484-10D Waste Oil Facility, the design and resizing of the Coal Storage Area with accompanying stormwater runoff work, design and closure of the northern 25% of the Coal Pile Runoff Basin.

Pangea Receives High Rating from USACE Little Rock District

January 3, 2011 Pangea received our Final Performance Evaluation from the Project "Critical Repairs to Flood Control Structure" at Clearwater Lake, MO for the US Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District. Work included a complete upgrade of the historical concrete intake structure and the metal access bridge.

Replacement of custom metal windows and a custom 24' high metal decorative door were also included. Most of the work was performed over 40' off of the surface of the rip-rap lake bed below. All work was performed safely.

Pangea was rated over "Above Average". Special “Outstanding” ratings were given in the areas of Quality of Work, Job-Site Supervision, Submittals, Warranty Response and Safety.
