Pangea provides Health Physics Technicians and
Radioanalytical Laboratory Technicians to support SAIC in oversight of
remediation operations at the St. Louis FUSRAP sites located in St. Louis
County, Missouri.
Laboratory technicians are responsible for sample
preparation and analysis of air, water, and soil samples using a variety
of analytical instrumentation, including high purity germanium (HPGe)
detectors for gamma spectroscopy, alpha spectroscopy instrumentation, gas
flow proportional counters, and kinetic phosphorescence analyzers (KPA).
Health physics field technicians are responsible for collecting air
samples, performing radiological surveys, and collection of soil and water
samples to support remediation activities and at the various FUSRAP sites.
Pangea has provided up to 14 technicians to date on this
subcontract. The contract
requires that Pangea submit résumés of qualified candidates within two
weeks of notification by the client of the need to fill a position.
While not specifically required in the contract, Pangea has filled
all positions to date within seven days of receiving notice from the
customer for additional positions.
This contract specifies six discrete levels of
technicians, ranging from entry-level positions to Senior Technicians with
a minimum of three or more years experience in performing radiological
protection functions at comparable project sites.
Pangea has provided the client with appropriately qualified
individuals. In fact, in all
cases the client has been able to select the desired candidate from the
first set of résumés submitted by Pangea.
In addition, Pangea has assisted its client, SAIC, by
providing Radiological Control Technician (RCT) Training both for Pangea
staff and several SAIC technicians. This
training program consisted of a 30-hour class of instruction followed by
administration of a final examination to document proficiency in the
subject matter provided. Certification cards were issued to all candidates that
successfully completed the examination.
